about

Not only did Erica Gies’ Water Always Wins ignite the inspiration for this project, but it introduced me to the significance of beavers to the health of our environment. This led me to Ben Goldfarb’s fascinating book on beavers, Eager. I hoped to honor these critters by showing them simply going about their business of creating dams, causing the water to slow, spread and meander, replenishing groundwater, spreading and building up rich sediment. Because of all this a fertile wonderland appears, which we explore before returning to a view of those beavers, just doing their thing.
